The Knock at Midnight
When Jesus Comes for You

Leonard Ravenhill
Was a fiery British evangelist known for preaching revival, holiness, and deep prayer life.

The only reason we don’t have revival is because we are willing to live without it. Christ knocks, but we keep the door bolted with complacency.
Leonard Ravenhill
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in…”
— Revelation 3:20
Listen. Come in close. You want to know about this.
It happened at midnight.
The house was still. The fire had gone out. And there he was — asleep, tired, worn out by life.
Then came the knock.
It wasn’t loud. It didn’t break the door. But it was persistent. Steady. Rhythmic. Relentless.
He stirred.
Half awake, half annoyed. “Who is knocking at this hour?” he whispered.
But something inside him whispered louder: Go to the door.
The Stranger Who Wasn’t a Stranger
He hesitated. There was no reason to expect anyone. He hadn't sent for help. No invitations. No appointments.
But the knocking wouldn’t stop.
And so, barefoot, heart pounding, he shuffled toward the door.
And when he opened it… everything changed.
There stood a man. But not just a man.
He was familiar in a way that pierced straight through the soul. Eyes like fire — but not the kind that burned you. The kind that saw you. All of you. And loved you anyway.
Jesus Doesn’t Break Down Doors — He Knocks
This is your midnight moment.
Right now.
You feel the knock, don’t you?
That quiet nudge in the soul. That deep ache when you're alone. That flicker of hope when you look at a cross. That unexplainable moment when a tear rolls down your cheek and you don’t know why.
That’s Him.
Jesus.
He’s not kicking in your door. He’s not forcing your faith.
He’s knocking.
Because love never forces itself in — it waits to be invited.
Why Now? Why You?
You’ve heard His name before. Maybe in childhood. Maybe in a church. Maybe as a curse on someone’s lips.
But you’ve never truly met Him — the real Jesus.
Not religion.
Not rules.
Not hypocrisy.
Not shame.
I’m talking about the Jesus who left Heaven for YOU.
The Jesus who bled while soldiers laughed.
The Jesus who said “Father, forgive them” while He suffocated on a Roman cross.
The Jesus who shattered the grave so He could walk into your prison and set you free.
You Were Made for This Love
This isn’t a fairy tale. This is blood-soaked truth.
You were made for a relationship with Jesus.
Not to know about Him.
To walk with Him.
To talk with Him.
To burn with His love like the first sunrise after a thousand nights of darkness.
And here’s the truth most people never tell you:
- You can’t earn Him.
- You don’t have to clean yourself up first.
- He’s not waiting for the “better” version of you.
He’s knocking now — because He wants the real you. The broken you. The exhausted you. The doubting you.
You. As you are.
The Cross Was the Invitation — The Empty Tomb Is the Guarantee
Two thousand years ago, on a hill called Golgotha, Jesus took your place.
Your sin? On His shoulders.
Your shame? In His blood.
Your death? Swallowed by His.
And three days later, the stone rolled back — not so He could get out, but so you could see in.
He lives.
He reigns.
And today, He’s calling your name.
You’ve Searched Everywhere Else
You’ve tried success.
Sex.
Fame.
Partying.
Even religion.
And yet… the emptiness lingers. The ache remains.
Because only Jesus can satisfy the thirst of a soul designed for eternity.
Only Jesus.
But There’s a Choice to Be Made
The knocking won’t last forever.
He’s patient — but not passive.
He’s calling — but not begging.
He’s inviting — but not dragging.
You must open the door.
He won’t force it. Because real love always honors your yes.
So What Do You Do?
It’s not complicated.
Not a ritual.
Not a performance.
It’s surrender.
It’s whispering a prayer — right now — that says:
“Jesus, I need You.
I’m broken, I’m tired, I’m done pretending.
I believe You died for me.
I believe You rose again.
I want to know You — not religion, not rules — just You.
Come into my life.
I open the door.”
And the moment you say that — from the depth of your heart — He comes in.
Not as a distant King. But as a Father. A Savior. A Friend.
And This Is Just the Beginning
You’ll stumble. You’ll fall. But He won’t leave.
You’ll doubt. You’ll struggle. But He’ll be right there.
You’ll grow. You’ll change. Because when Jesus moves in, everything changes.
The fire returns. The joy awakens. The soul comes alive.
He knocks at midnight…
But He stays forever.
Let Today Be Your Midnight
Because this is more than a sermon.
This is your divine appointment.
Right here. Right now.
Jesus is knocking.
Will you open the door?
